At The Secret Chambers, we are always promoting our players to challenge themselves. However, one of the best pieces of advice we can give you for successfully solving an escape room puzzle is to simply – ask for a hint!
At The Secret Chambers, we want you to feel like you have an appropriate level of difficulty that works for you and your group. A Game Master will always be present, so we highly encourage you to ask for hints during gameplay to ensure your success – and fun – while playing!
A few things to keep in mind:
1. Asking for hints doesn’t mean you and your team aren’t good at escape rooms!
To start, let’s debunk one myth right now – asking for a hint DOES NOT mean you aren’t smart or aren’t good at escape room puzzles!
In fact, the purpose of a hint is to simply guide you in the right direction. Ultimately, we always want you to feel like things are “clicking” into place. This is just so that you and your team don’t become frustrated for too long since some of our escape rooms can get pretty tricky!
However, please note that our Game Master won’t give you a direct answer. Think of a hint as simply a clue to keep you and your team from becoming stumped and running out of time. It also encourages you to progress through the series of puzzles at a steady pace since the 1 hour you have GOES FAST!
2. It’s rare for groups to solve the entire escape room without any hints.
Most groups who try to solve an escape room at The Secret Chambers have to ask for at least one clue in order to solve the puzzles they are presented with.
For that reason, we highly encourage you to ask for a hint whenever you feel stuck. This is because each of our escape rooms were designed specifically to challenge you and keep you on your toes!
So don’t feel bad! Asking for clues is part of the process and makes the experience more fun overall.

3.) Using clues is part of the strategy.
Did you know that asking for clues is part of developing a smart strategy for solving the escape room?
That’s right! An experienced group of escape artists knows when to ask for clues. Using hints as a resource to refer back to will benefit you and your team solve the rest of the puzzle.

Conclusion
To wrap things up, always remember that there’s no shame in asking for a clue – in fact, it should be part of your strategy.
Not only that, asking for hints keeps you and your team engaged. Hints also help to reduce any possible frustration that may arise from being overwhelmed from being timed or having lots of unsolved puzzles in front of you with no idea of how to solve them.
