If you’re brand new to an escape room, you’re likely wondering what to expect from the experience.
Half of the fun when it comes to playing an escape room is the surprise. However, if you’re a person who likes to plan, you’ll appreciate knowing a few things to make the experience more enjoyable. Here are some tips that we want to share so that you get the most out of escape room adventure!
What Should I Bring to an Escape Room?
To enjoy an escape room, all you’ll need is your brain and a couple friends or family members – and you’re all set!
Sometimes at The Secret Chambers, we get asked what to wear for playing at an escape room. Our suggestion is wear whatever feels comfortable to you.
For extra fun, you can come in escape room themed costumes! You and your team can get your picture taken after the escape room adventure so that you’ll never forget your escape room experience!

What Do I Need to Know About Filling out the Waiver?
Besides payment, one of the only steps you’ll need to take to prepare is to fill out a waiver.
Every person who is going to be playing the escape room needs to fill out the waiver. You and your team can fill out your waiver ahead of time online, or when you arrive.
Please note that any participants under the age of 18 will need to have their waiver filled out by a parent, guardian, or any adult responsible for the kids that day.
When Should I Arrive to an Escape Room?
Each escape room adventure at The Secret Chambers starts exactly at the time you booked it for, and the playtime lasts for exactly 1 hour.
We recommend arriving a minimum of 15 minutes before the game begins. For example, if you book an escape room for 1:00pm, you need to arrive at the latest 12:45pm. Use these 15 minutes to fill out your waivers, hang up your jackets, take a bathroom break, and get a drink of water.
Please do not be late for your escape room experience. Nothing is worse than being a few minutes late because of a bathroom break. Plan ahead of time so that you get the most fun out of your escape room adventure!

What Should I Expect from the Actual Game?
Once your team is ready to go, you will meet your personal Game Master. He or she will give you basic rules, review safety instructions, and ensure everyone is ready to start the game. Your Game Master will be your go-to for the next hour whenever you need a clue.
Please, don’t be afraid to ask for a clue! Generally speaking, if your team hasn’t found any new information or solved a puzzle in five to seven minutes, it’s time to ask for help.
Also, remember to work as a team. Some team members are natural leaders, and some are followers. Everyone has a wide range of skills. For example, some participants might be better at logic puzzles, and others may be better at math. As such, every team member should be encouraged to contribute and share their observations! In addition, your Game Master is here to give hints and help everyone feel like they’re getting the most out of the experience.
Please note: Absolutely NO roughhousing of any kind will be tolerated while in the escape room. After one warning, you will receive a game over. Everything you will need to reach during the game will be located 6 feet off the ground or below. If an item moves by itself, it is designed to do so without any interference or “help” from the player. Lastly, none of the puzzles will require the player to plug anything into an electrical outlet!
